23.Feb.2009 I showed up to work today…

Gilbert discusses the origins of “genius”, considering ancient Greek daemons, or the divine, attendant spirits from distant, unknowable sources that influence creativity. In ancient Rome, dismebodied creative spirits were called a genius, believed to live in the walls of an artist’s studio.

She encourages the idea that creativity can be a “peculiar, wondrous, bizzare collaboration” between a person and a “strange, external thing”.

18.May.2008 music making, deconstruction, and the Kilimanjaro

one fair sunday morning i found myself unusually awake after falling asleep to bohren and der club the night before. i do what i’m assuming is my equivalent of “yard-sale” hunting by apeasing my inner music aficionado and check out some of the “similar artists” last.fm so kindly provides. “kilimanjaro darkjazz ensemble” seemed like an interesting prospect.
