Oh dear.  2009 was a remarkable year from me.  Here’s some things I learned this year:

1. Don’t serve whiskey to people that usually drink beer.
2. Don’t expect people to interpret the meaning in the mix cd you made them.
3. Pet insurance is a good idea.
4. The government does not have your best interest in mind.
5. Home ownership is not for me.
6. Pedestrians don’t rush to cross the street in the Northwest.
7. You can get a good wine for $10 or less.
8. My favorite cheeses: cambozola and humboldt fog.
9. Don’t ignore the red flags.
10. Don’t expect anyone to understand you.
11. Vegetarianism via sustainability relieves some of the guilt of consumption.
12. Cycling alone at night is even better than driving at night with the windows down.
13. Give more than you get.
14. See the potential in everyone and everything.
15. Its the hugs you don’t give that you regret.
16. Take care of yourself. Don’t extend the burden to your friends and loved ones.
17. Both hands on the wheel.
18. Bring your own lunch.
19. Bring your own social lubricants.
20. One song can save the day.
